Late-Night Union Springs Blaze Prompts Aurelius Response for Possible Trapped Occupants

Auburn, NY - Apparatus and personnel from the Aurelius Volunteer Fire Department deployed on mutual aid Tuesday night to support the Union Springs Fire Department at a working structure fire with initial reports of trapped occupants.

Emergency dispatch alerted Aurelius at 8:34 p.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2026, initially requesting the company to serve as the Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) on the fireground. Upon arrival in the Union Springs district, operating conditions necessitated immediate tactical reassignment, and Aurelius personnel integrated directly into primary search, rescue, and active fire suppression efforts alongside host companies.

Aurelius mobilized substantial resources to the scene, including Engine 1, Rescue 2, Squad 3, and the Duty Chief, providing a full complement of manpower and specialized equipment. Responders operated on the fireground through the night before completing overhaul, packing lines, and returning all units to service at approximately 3:00 a.m. Wednesday.
