Allentown Boro, NY - Volunteer firefighters from the Allentown Volunteer Fire Company deployed six apparatus on mutual aid Monday afternoon, operating for nearly four hours to contain a fast-moving, multi-acre brush fire along East Hill Road.

Units were dispatched shortly after 3:00 p.m. on Monday, November 2, 2026, to assist the Richburg and Friendship fire departments with an expanding outside fire burning through brush and wooded terrain. Allentown mobilized a substantial field contingent, responding with apparatus A-4, A-6, A-604, A-50, A-501, and A-503.

Crews established fire lines, deployed forestry handlines, and performed extensive perimeter containment and wetting operations across rough ground.

Forest Rangers from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC) responded to the scene, coordinating containment strategies and surveying the burn scar, which was officially measured at just over seven acres.

Operating companies worked through the late afternoon and early evening to extinguish hot spots and secure the fireground, returning to service after approximately four hours of sustained operations.
