Elmira Heights Crews Contain High-Rise Fire at Villa Serene

Elmira Heights, N.Y. — November 2 —The Elmira Heights Fire Department responded to a reported structure fire on the 10th floor of the Villa Serene Apartments. Crews, operating alongside the Elmira Fire Department, made entry to the affected apartment and quickly knocked down the fire, preventing further spread in the high-rise building.
Without any injuries, the situation was brought under control. The effective response was attributed by the department to coordinated ventilation, hose advancement, and communication among responding companies.
The Southport Fire Department, Horseheads Fire/Rescue Department, Town and Country Fire Department, West Elmira Fire Department, Elmira Fire Fighters IAFF Local 709, Chemung County Fire and Emergency Management, Chemung County 911, and Erway Ambulance all contributed mutual aid support.
