Elmira Heights Firefighters Contain Basement Fire with No Injuries

Elmira Heights, N.Y. — October 30 —At approximately 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, the Elmira Heights Fire Department was dispatched to a report of smoke inside a residence. Chief 701 arrived and found no visible fire from the exterior; however, smoke was located at the rear of the home, confirming a basement fire.
Firefighters found the fire and put it out fast. No injuries were reported, and all residents and pets were safely evacuated. The house is still structurally sound despite minor damage. The Elmira Heights Police Department and Elmira Fire Fighters IAFF Local 709 were thanked by the department for their assistance on the scene.
