Baltic, Conn. — October 26 —The Lisbon and Baltic fire departments were called to a trailer fire involving hay at 10:25 a.m. Not long after dispatch, Engine-Tanker 124 arrived and stretched two 1¾-inch handlines to start suppressing the fire. Due to the amount of material and overhaul requirements, the Lisbon Fire Chief took over as commander and asked Scotland, Taftville, and Occum for more personnel.
Crews remained on scene until approximately 12:30 hours working to fully extinguish hot spots and break apart the hay to prevent rekindle. One individual was evaluated for fire-related injuries and refused transport. The Baltic Fire Marshal was unavailable, and the incident remains under review by the appropriate authorities.
