Norwalk, Conn. — October 15, 2025 — Norwalk firefighters responded late Tuesday night to a two-vehicle crash on I-95 southbound near the Route 7 interchange. A privatized street sweeper struck a construction vehicle with an active attenuator system protecting a lane closure.

The sweeper’s driver was pinned and suffered a leg injury. Firefighters extricated the patient and assisted EMS with transport to Norwalk Hospital. The second driver was also taken for evaluation.

Ten firefighters responded with an engine, rescue, and the department’s tactical attenuator truck. Connecticut State Police are investigating. Officials clarified the struck attenuator truck belonged to the construction company, not NFD’s TAC-1, which protected crews during the rescue.
