Carle Place, N.Y. — October 9 — Carle Place Fire Department responded with an engine to assist the Hicksville Fire Department at a working commercial fire on East Marie Street and Broadway. The blaze spread through a two-story building, damaging several businesses, including the well-known House of Donuts.
Firefighters operated for several hours under difficult conditions caused by heavy basement storage before bringing the fire under control. No injuries were reported, and the Nassau County Fire Marshal’s Office is investigating the cause.
