INLET, NY — February 21st — Earlier in the day, Inlet Volunteer Emergency Services firefighters responded to a reported snowmobile fire on Uncas Road. When crews arrived, the sled was completely engulfed in flames, and they moved swiftly to contain the situation. The snowmobile was deemed a total loss, however no injuries were reported during the event.
Before leaving the scene, firefighters made sure the fire had not spread to any neighboring brush or wooded areas. In the Adirondack region, snowmobiling is a popular winter activity, and local emergency services frequently respond to incidents along roads and trails. Officials advise bikers to go on local routes and trails carefully and with well-maintained equipment.
