Tremont, M.E. — October 15 —For several days last week, the Tremont Volunteer Fire Department stayed inside the Tremont Consolidated School classrooms in honor of Fire Prevention Month. On October 15, five members came to teach fire safety to the youngest students, allowing them to tour a fire engine and try on fire gear. The STOP THE BLEED® campaign, CPR, First Aid, the use of EpiPens and AEDs, and more were all covered in the introductory program that Lt. Weir returned to teach to grade 7/8 students and a few staff members on October 16 and 17. Students and staff participated in the sessions in large numbers, and the department expressed hope that interest in future volunteer work will increase.
