Sturbridge, Mass. — October 21, 2025 — The Sturbridge Firefighters Local 170 hosted the annual Jason Chamberland Memorial Fire Safety Day at Burgess Elementary School, honoring the memory of Jason Chamberland through a day of hands-on fire safety learning.

First graders and teachers explored Tower 1, Tanker 1, and Ambulance 3, which topped the students’ favorites list, and were joined by Rocky from the Sturbridge Police Department. Inside, students learned about smoke alarms, escape plans, and practiced “Stay Low and Go” in mock smoke conditions. Firefighters also showed what they look and sound like in full gear to help children recognize them as helpers during emergencies.
