Fast Fireground Action Prevents Interior Extension at Dryden Mobile Home Fire

Dryden, NY - A rapid, aggressive attack by Dryden firefighters and regional mutual aid partners brought an exterior structure fire under control Wednesday morning, preventing flames from consuming a local mobile home.

First responders from Neptune Hose Co. 1 and Dryden Ambulance were dispatched at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, for a reported structure fire. Arriving fire officers encountered active, heavy fire involving the front porch and primary entryway of the mobile home, threatening to extend into the interior living quarters.

Due to the nature of the fire and water supply requirements, mutual aid was requested, bringing tankers, apparatus, and personnel from the Freeville, McLean, Virgil, and Cortlandville fire departments to the scene.

Operating crews initiated a swift and aggressive handline stretch, pouring water directly onto the exterior fire and executing a rapid knockdown before the thermal spread could compromise the interior of the residence. No injuries were reported among occupants or responding emergency personnel.

Crews completed overhaul operations to ensure all hot spots were eliminated, and the cause of the fire remains under active investigation.
