Union Springs Firefighters Bring Fire Safety Lessons to AJ Smith Elementary.

Union Springs, N.Y.—October 16— The Union Springs Fire Department, also known as Union Hose & Engine Company, joined students and staff at AJ Smith Elementary for a Fire Safety Day as part of Fire Prevention Week 2025.

Firefighters spent the morning teaching students the basics of fire safety, from calling 911 to understanding how smoke alarms work and developing home escape plans. Students also explored firefighting equipment and got an up-close look at the apparatus used in emergency operations.
