Genoa, N.Y.—October 18— The Genoa Volunteer Fire Department, located at 10015 State Route 90, wrapped up its two-day “Big Water” training exercise this weekend, bringing together fire departments from Battalions 5 and 6 for both classroom and hands-on instruction.
The hands-on evolution, held in the Village of Aurora, simulated a sustained rural water-supply operation. Working in coordination with the Aurora Volunteer Fire Department, crews drafted from Cayuga Lake to avoid tapping municipal water sources during the region’s dry stretch.
