Cheesequake Fire Department Responds to Early Morning Route 9 Crash

October 19, 2025 - At approximately 7:30 AM, the Cheesequake Fire Department was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Route 9 following reports of smoke conditions and possible entrapment. Assistant Chief 210, Captain 221, Engine 202, Engine 203, and Rescue 205 responded promptly to the scene, where they discovered a commercial van overturned on its side carrying several 55-gallon drums of suspected spray insulation.
Middlesex County Hazmat was called in to assess the situation and secure the hazardous materials. Fire department personnel and Hazmat crews spent several hours stabilizing and cleaning up the scene to ensure public safety.
The Cheesequake Fire Department expressed its gratitude to all the dedicated volunteers who assisted in the operation and extended thanks to motorists on Route 9 for their patience during the cleanup efforts.
