October 11, 2025 — Shortly after 6:54 p.m., the Griggstown Volunteer Fire Company (Station 35), along with Franklin Park Fire Department (Station 31) and Elizabeth Avenue Fire Company (Station 41), was dispatched for a motor vehicle collision involving a structure on Cortelyous Lane in Franklin Township.

The incident occurred just after all three Franklin Fire District 2 companies wrapped up their collaborative open house earlier that day. Members from each department had gathered at Station 31 to share a meal and celebrate a successful community event when the call came in — allowing for an immediate response.

Engine 35, Squad 31, Rescue 41, and chiefs from both Stations 31 and 35 were on the road within seconds. Upon arrival, crews discovered that a vehicle had left the roadway and struck a residential garage near the border of Griggstown’s coverage area.

Firefighters quickly worked together to stabilize the scene, assess structural integrity, and ensure there were no hazards from fuel leaks or electrical damage. Thanks to the rapid and coordinated district-wide response, the situation was brought under control without further incident.

This event once again highlighted the strong teamwork and communication between the Franklin Fire District 2 departments, both in community engagement and emergency response.
