Firefighters from Delaware County and surrounding communities responded to a two-alarm residential building fire that required interior searches, roof ventilation, and additional water-supply operations.
The fire was reported at approximately 7:23 p.m. on September 29, 2026, in the 3300 block of West Third Street near Irving Street in Trainer Borough, Pennsylvania. Arriving companies encountered fire showing from the second floor of a multi-unit apartment building.
Lower Chichester Volunteer Fire Company was among the responding departments, with Chief 39 overseeing fireground operations. Truck 17 was assigned to the second-floor exposure apartment and roof. Interior personnel conducted searches and opened concealed spaces while roof crews performed ventilation to support suppression efforts.
Additional apparatus assisted with a secondary water supply and supported crews operating on the roof. According to fire officials, the response involved 13 volunteer fire companies and the City of Chester Fire Department. The fire was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes.
The building contained approximately seven residential units. All occupants escaped without reported injuries. NBC10 reported that three cats died in the fire, while the American Red Cross provided assistance to 11 people from three families displaced by the incident.
Investigators believed the fire originated on the second floor, although the exact cause remained under investigation.
