Firefighters from Monroeville and surrounding communities operated for nearly nine hours at a three-alarm commercial building fire that required extensive mutual aid, firefighter rehabilitation, and additional station coverage.
On September 25, 2026, at approximately 12:30 p.m., fire companies were dispatched to the former PNC Mortgage office at 2727 Stroschein Road in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. The incident was in Monroeville Volunteer Fire Department Company 1's first-due district. Arriving crews encountered heavy black smoke from the two-story building, prompting additional alarms.
Firefighters from Monroeville Companies 1, 4, and 5, along with mutual-aid departments including Pitcairn and Penn Hills, assisted with suppression, ventilation, and other fireground operations. Crews located fire in and around a former bank vault, where steel construction and concealed fire extension complicated extinguishment efforts.
Company 5 provided Tanker 5 for water-supply support and an ambulance for firefighter rehabilitation. Additional EMS units, Penn Township EMS, and Salvation Army personnel supported the extended operation. Mutual-aid companies also staffed Monroeville stations to maintain emergency coverage.
Monroeville telecommunications personnel coordinated multiple responding companies, personnel accountability checks, and a reported Mayday transmission. Monroeville police and public works personnel assisted with traffic control. No injuries were reported.
Crews remained on scene for approximately eight to nine hours conducting suppression and overhaul. The Allegheny County Fire Marshal's Office was investigating the cause of the fire.
