At approximately 1213 hours on October 20, 2025, the Camden County Fire Alarm Room dispatched Gloucester Twp companies and automatic aid units for the report of a dwelling fire at 203 Summit Avenue. Initial information indicated a basement fire that was spreading fast. First arriving units reported smoke showing from a one story single family dwelling. First arriving fire company, Gloucester Township Squad Co 88, wrapped a hydrant and forward laid into the job. A 1 3/4” handline was quickly stretched to the basement where the crew was able to extinguish the fire in short order. The family pet cat was removed from the dwelling, by a firefighter, with probable smoke related injuries. Pictured here are GTEMS EMT Riley Anderson (Right) with fellow EMT Crystal Macklin (Left) who administered oxygen to the injured feline and were assisted by other EMS crew members. Searches proved negative otherwise and the fire was placed under control shortly after by Chief 84, Frank Reiss.
