Issaquah, Wash. — September 6 — Firefighters from Eastside Fire Rescue Station 42 were recognized for their life-saving efforts after a cardiac arrest response earlier this month resulted in a successful resuscitation.

On September 6, Engine Rescue 42 was dispatched for a reported cardiac arrest. Captain Lang Gillen, Lieutenant Cody Coleman, and Firefighter Charlize Kepler arrived to find CPR underway by bystanders. The crew continued advanced life support efforts, including airway management, CPR, and defibrillation, restoring the patient’s heartbeat before transport. The patient later regained consciousness and was able to communicate with hospital staff.
