Noxen, Pa. — October 14 — During its October meeting, the Noxen Volunteer Fire Company honored Engineer/Firefighter Thomas Piatt by giving him a Medal of Bravery from Chief Headman for his actions during this year's Main Street structure fire.

Piatt acted swiftly after spotting the fire in January, saving a burn victim, dialing 911, and then coming to the station to deliver Tanker 101 to the scene, where he drove the truck for the duration of the incident. His deeds demonstrated initiative, training, and dedication to his department and the people of Noxen.

Engineer Piatt has been a member of the fire company since the age of 14 and continues to be an active and dependable part of the department’s operations.
