Mastic Beach N.Y.- On Saturday October 16th the William Floyd School District hosted their Homecoming Parade at the William Floyd High School. This year’s parade was led by Chief Rudy Sunderman and various Apparatus of the Mastic Fire Department. They were followed by the William Floyd School Board as well as dignitaries Suffolk Legislator Jim Mazzarella and Assemblyman Joe Destefano as well as numerous school and community groups. Additional fire departments that brought out apparatus included Brookhaven Fire Department and Mastic Beach Fire Department. The homecoming Royalty received rode on the Shady Grove Antique Fire Department’s 1929 American LaFrance as well as the 1942 Ahrens Fox. The parade went from the William Floyd High School South Parking lot through various other adjacent school parking lots that are owned by the district until it arrived at the Sports Complex to massive cheers as they Homecoming Royalty arrived on the firetrucks. The Mastic and Mastic Beach FD also had a flag arch up for much of the game. It was great to see the Fire Service Community as well as the School Community Come together for this event.
