Bloomfield Fire Department Conducts VEIS Training Drill

Bloomfield, NJ - This past week, members of the Bloomfield Fire Department participated in a VEIS (Vent, Enter, Isolate, Search) drill. The hands-on training focused on a vital firefighting technique used when traditional entry points are blocked by fire. In these situations, firefighters enter through a window or alternate opening to access specific areas within a structure. Once inside, they isolate the room by closing the door to prevent the spread of heat and smoke before conducting a rapid, thorough search for potential victims. The VEIS training enhances firefighters’ search efficiency, decision-making, and safety awareness during high-risk, time-sensitive operations.
