Bloomfield, N.J. — October 6 —The Bloomfield Fire Department conducted a downed-firefighter training exercise designed to improve rapid-intervention and rescue operations.
Firefighters practiced locating, packaging, and removing an unresponsive firefighter from a hazardous environment. The drill emphasized teamwork, communication, and efficient removal of protective gear to allow quick medical care.
These exercises mirror real-world “mayday” situations where every second matters. By training under controlled but challenging conditions, Bloomfield crews strengthen their readiness to respond swiftly and safely during actual emergencies.
