A second-alarm structure fire brought firefighters from multiple communities to a residence on Stieg Road during the early morning hours. Crews encountered heavy fire involving an attached garage, with flames extending into the home and a vehicle burning outside.

At approximately 3:01 a.m. on October 11, 2026, Durham Fire and Rescue responded to 6 Stieg Road in Durham, Maine, for a reported garage fire. Durham Car 2 arrived to find the garage heavily involved, with fire extending into the adjoining residence. A second alarm was requested for additional personnel and apparatus.

The property consisted of a two-story Cape-style residence with an attached two-car garage and breezeway. Firefighters worked to contain the fire and prevent further extension into the home. The incident required a coordinated response from several departments.

Reported mutual-aid resources included Freeport Fire Rescue, Brunswick Fire Department, Lisbon Fire Department, Auburn Fire Department, Topsham Fire & Rescue, Sabattus Fire Department, West Bath Fire/Rescue and Woolwich Fire/Rescue. The Androscoggin County Sheriff's Office also assisted. A separate second-alarm fire in New Gloucester placed additional demands on regional firefighting resources.

No injuries to residents or emergency personnel were reported. The residence sustained extensive damage and was considered a total loss in the initial account. Two cats were believed to have died in the fire. The Maine State Fire Marshal's Office investigated the incident, but the cause remained undetermined due to the extent of the damage.
