NYC, NY -  A fast-moving, three-alarm fire tore through a two-story private dwelling and extended into an adjoining building early Sunday morning in Queens, leaving three firefighters injured and drawing nearly 200 first responders to the scene.

At approximately 4:00 a.m. on September 27, 2026, the Fire Department of the City of New York (FDNY) began receiving multiple emergency calls reporting an active fire on the second floor of a private residence at 97-07 34th Avenue.

First-due units arrived to encounter heavy fire blowing through the second floor and attic, with flames rapidly extending into the adjacent connected structure.

Fireground operations were significantly impeded by severe, deep-seated clutter throughout the interior of the fire building. Facing rapidly deteriorating conditions and complex interior access, Deputy Chief Christopher Paolicelli escalated the incident to a third alarm, mobilizing a total of 63 units and 192 fire and EMS personnel to contain the blaze and establish defensive lines on the exposed building.

Three firefighters sustained minor injuries during suppression operations and received medical care. Operating against high heat and heavy fuel loads, crews brought the fire under control at 5:44 a.m. FDNY fire marshals have launched an investigation into the cause and origin of the blaze.
