Watertown, NY - Firefighters from the Northpole Fire Company shifted quickly from standby status to active scene mitigation Monday evening, providing critical support following a major commercial vehicle rollover in Jefferson County.
At approximately 5:47 p.m. on October 5, 2026, Northpole was initially requested to provide standby coverage as the Pamelia Volunteer Fire Department responded to an overturned tractor-trailer along the Interstate 781 connector to Interstate 81 Southbound.
Moments later, incident commanders escalated the call, summoning Northpole directly to the highway interchange to assist on the active crash ground.
The department deployed Chief 1, Engine 2, and Utility 1. Upon arrival, Northpole firefighters integrated into unified command operations, working to mitigate vehicle fluid hazards, manage debris containment, and support scene safety protocols alongside neighboring emergency units and tow operators.
Personnel operated on the scene until all primary hazards were controlled and command officially released the units to return to service.
