Montgomery, Vt. — October 6 — Montgomery Fire and Search & Rescue assisted Lowell Fire Department and Newport Ambulance–Troy Rescue in carrying out a hiker stung by a bee on the Long Trail near Haystack Mountain.

The call came at 9:18 a.m. The patient was initially alert but unable to continue on foot. Crews used ropes and pulleys to navigate steep ledges and reached the trailhead by 1:00 p.m., where the patient was transported in stable condition.

Responders thanked Sylvester’s Market for providing food for the crews and warned hikers to watch for ground wasp nests along the trail.
