Norfolk, Conn. — September 11 —In a somber ceremony of reflection and remembrance, the Norfolk Volunteer Fire Department (NVFD) commemorated the 24th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 attacks. Department personnel invited the public to assemble at the fire station's 9/11 Memorial this evening at 6:30 p.m. In remembrance of the nearly 3,000 victims—including the 343 FDNY firefighters who lost their lives while on duty, as well as the police officers, paramedics, and innumerable others who bravely responded—the fire bell was tolled during the ceremony.
