Morris, Conn. — September 29 — Over the weekend, the Morris Fire Company's comparatively calm week took a turn for the worse as members responded to two major mutual-aid incidents, highlighting the value of regional collaboration in emergency response. The Morris Fire Company and the Region 5 Dive Team were called to the scene of a reported drowning at East Mountain Reservoir in Waterbury on Saturday. Crews supported recovery operations under difficult conditions, necessitating a prolonged response to the incident. For the operation to be completed safely, the dive team's and local agencies' concerted efforts were essential. Members of the Morris Fire Company were called to Torrington just hours after returning from that response to help fight a large fire that had spread to a vacant factory building.
