Oct. 2025 — The Hartsdale Fire Department is once again showing its support for two important causes during the month of October: National Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Down Syndrome Awareness Month.

Throughout the month, firefighters will wear pink shirts to help raise awareness of breast cancer, a disease that affects one in eight women in the United States each year. In addition, the department’s apparatus will display special decals to honor and support Down Syndrome awareness.

“We are proud to support both breast cancer and Down Syndrome awareness year-round, but especially during October,” the department said. “It’s important for us to stand with our community and spread awareness for causes that affect so many families.”

By incorporating awareness efforts into their uniforms and apparatus, Hartsdale firefighters aim to spark conversations and encourage community members to learn more, get involved, and support those impacted.
