Jamestown Fire Volunteers Handle Four Incidents in Busy Morning

Jamestown, RI — October 4, 2025

The Jamestown Volunteer Fire Department had a demanding morning on Saturday, responding to four separate incidents across town within just a few hours.

  • 9:29 a.m. — Crews were dispatched to Sampan Avenue for a carbon monoxide alarm, ensuring the safety of residents.
  • 10:07 a.m. — Firefighters responded to St. Matthew’s Church for an EMS call, providing assistance to those in need.
  • 10:10 a.m. — Only minutes later, crews were called to the west center span of the Newport Bridge for a motor vehicle fire.
  • 12:39 p.m. — Later in the day, responders were dispatched to 609 Beavertail Road for a technical rescue.

The quick succession of calls tested the department’s readiness, but volunteers rose to the challenge.

“The Jamestown Fire Department is dedicated to providing professional fire service to the residents and town of Jamestown,” the department shared in a statement, commending the efforts of all who responded.

Community members expressed their appreciation for the volunteers’ commitment and swift response in keeping Jamestown safe.
