1. Wayne Crews Responded to Reported Brush and Dumpster Fire

Wayne, NJ — September 8 — Members of Community Volunteer Fire Company #1, Inc., located at 93-97 Parish Dr., Wayne, responded along with P.O.L.Fire Company #2 to a reported fire involving brush, vegetation, or a dumpster along Route 23 1A in Wayne Township.

The initial call brought together the two Wayne fire companies to check out the reported outside fire and assess the situation at the scene.


The crews were ready to deal with a fire involving vegetation, brush, or an outdoor trash container.

Community Volunteer Fire Company #1 has been serving Wayne Township since 1918 and is one of five volunteer fire companies that comprise the Wayne Fire Department.


The company handles a variety of incidents, including structure fires, brush fires, rescues, and hazardous-materials calls.

Company #1 also has members trained in wildland firefighting and has personnel who are active with the New Jersey Forest Fire Service.


This training gives the company additional experience when dealing with brush and vegetation fires.

Wayne Township provides fire protection through five volunteer companies, and mutual aid and coordinated responses are used when more resources are needed.


The response on Route 23 showed the regular coordination between Wayne's volunteer fire companies as they investigated and managed the reported outside fire.
