At 6pm on Tuesday, 9/30/25 the Waterford Fire Service held a badge pinning ceremony at Company 1 for their four new members. Director Chris Haley greeted the crowd and spoke about what it means to be in the fire service today.
Selectman Rob Brule talked about the evolving fire service and how he was thankful for the volunteers who were the backbone of the community for a very long time. He went on to say how the community is growing and that they will be funding the fire service more with different projects such as station renovations and more career staff to be available for the increasing amount of incidents each year.
Captain Pawlak introduced Firefighters Alec Dube and Brandon Jencks who are assigned to his shift. Firefighter Dube started as a volunteer in Madison and Firefighter Jencks started as a member of the Taftville Fire Department.
Captain Rafuse welcomed Firefighter Alex Blais who started in Salem and was working for the Montville Fire Department when he was hired to serve in Waterford.
Captain Martin introduced Firefighter Matthew King who began his fire service tenure in Old Saybrook and was working for the Westfield Fire Department in Middletown before being hired in Waterford.
We wish you all a long, healthy and safe career.
