Bristol, ME - A new fixture has recently appeared on Rt. 32—a dry hydrant installed in the pond of Jeff and Lydia Templeton. The pond, originally dug out in the 1960s as a fire pond, now provides a reliable water source on that side of town. With the dry hydrant in place, firefighters can set up more quickly for drafting to fill tankers during structure fires. Once rainfall raises the water level, training at the site will begin. The department extended its thanks to the Templetons for their support and to Pendleton Plumbing and Excavation for completing the installation.
