Resident Hospitalized After Being Rescued from Afternoon Danbury House Fire

Danbury, CT - Firefighters rescued an occupant from a smoke-filled residence on West Lake Shore Drive on Monday afternoon, rushing the victim to a local hospital as crews worked to contain a working house fire.

Around 1:00 p.m. on September 14, Danbury Fire Department units were dispatched following emergency reports of a structure fire along West Lake Shore Drive. En route to the scene, responding companies received critical updates from dispatch indicating that a resident was believed to still be trapped inside the burning home.

First-arriving crews immediately launched an aggressive interior primary search under active fire and heavy smoke conditions. Firefighters successfully located the individual inside the dwelling and rapidly carried out an extraction to the exterior, handing the patient off to awaiting emergency medical personnel. The resident was treated on scene and transported to the hospital; their current medical condition has not been disclosed.

Simultaneously, engine companies stretched attack lines to knock down the main body of fire, halting further structural extension and bringing the blaze under control.

The scene was turned over to investigators from the Danbury Fire Marshal’s Office, who are currently working to determine the origin and cause of the fire.
