Overnight Fire Engulfs Danbury Home After Reports of Trapped Resident Spark Search

Danbury, CT - Eight residents and two family pets were displaced early Monday morning after a fast-moving fire swept through a two-story wood-frame home, sending one occupant and a dog to local hospitals for medical treatment.

Shortly before 2:00 a.m. on September 7, Danbury Fire Department personnel assigned to "A" Shift were dispatched to the residence following 911 reports that the dwelling was fully involved with a tenant potentially trapped in a ground-floor bedroom.

Upon arrival, fire crews were met with heavy fire conditions blowing through both the first and second floors, with flames actively tearing into the attic void. Firefighters immediately mounted an aggressive primary search under extreme heat and smoke conditions, confirming that all occupants had successfully evacuated the burning structure.

Suppression teams advanced multiple attack lines to knock down the main body of fire and halt extension in the upper attic areas. In total, four adults, four children, and two dogs were driven from the destroyed residence.

Emergency medical responders treated one occupant at the scene before transporting them to the Danbury Hospital emergency department. One of the rescued dogs was also rushed to an emergency veterinary hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation.

The Danbury Office of Emergency Management responded to coordinate emergency relief and temporary housing assistance alongside the American Red Cross. The origin and cause of the early morning blaze remain under active investigation by the Danbury Fire Marshal’s Office.
