Two Transported, Including a Child, Following Head-On Crash on Monroe Turnpike

Monroe, CT - Emergency services were dispatched Saturday evening following a serious head-on collision on Monroe Turnpike (Route 111) directly adjacent to the town green, sending two motorists—including a child—to a local hospital for medical evaluation.

At approximately 7:25 p.m. on September 19, Monroe Police, Monroe EMS, and personnel from the Monroe Volunteer Fire Department were alerted to a two-vehicle collision blocking the roadway near the town center. First responders arrived to find substantial impact damage and vehicles obstructing the travel lanes with a heavy field of automotive debris scattered across the corridor.

Emergency medical personnel evaluated motorists on scene and subsequently transported two individuals, one of whom was a pediatric patient, to a regional hospital for further medical assessment.

Firefighters cordoned off the crash site, stabilized the vehicles, and applied absorbent materials to mitigate hazardous automotive fluid leaks running along the pavement. Responding crews also worked to sweep and clear the extensive debris field to reopen the lanes safely.
