During the weekly training one of the Lieutenants led a presentation and practical evolutions on “Firefighter Down CPR.” The program focuses on the importance of immediately recognizing sudden cardiac arrest, rescuing the firefighter from hazardous conditions, initiating high-quality CPR, and rapidly removing firefighter gear through coordinated teamwork. When performed correctly, chest compressions can be started and maintained without interruption while the turnout jacket, helmet, mask, hood, gloves, and SCBA pack are removed—all within 30 seconds.
