WILLIAMSTOWN, NJ — March 29th — A parachuter who was reportedly caught in a tree prompted the Williamstown Fire Department to respond to a rescue mission at Cross Keys Skydive. When units arrived, they discovered that the person was hung above the ground and needed a technical rescue. After securing the area, firefighters used rope equipment and ground ladders to get to the patient. The parachutist was safely removed and brought to the ground by crews working in a controlled manner.
The subject was assessed on the spot by EMS staff. Because of the difficulties with height and access, such incidents necessitate meticulous coordination. There were no reports of responders being hurt. Before returning to service, crews stayed on the scene until the operation was finished and the area was secured.
