Retied Hero NYPD Detective Laid To Rest

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Retired NYPD 3rd Grade Detective Thomas Lilly was laid to rest this week after losing his battle with 9/11 cancer. Thomas joined the NYPD in 1986 and was assigned to the 9th Pct on the Lower East Side before being promoted to Detective. Like so many others Thomas responded to the Attacks at Ground Zero and worked on the pile. In Jan 2002 just months after the attack Thomas retired from the Job. Thomas was a member of the Newburgh Elks, was an Eagle Scout, and dedicated a large amount of his time volunteering and coaching for the Cornwall football program. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing and spending time with his friends and loved ones.
