Mutual Aid Crews Join Lisbon Firefighters at Third-Alarm Fire

Lisbon, Maine — September 9 — On Wednesday morning, firefighters from Lisbon and nearby communities rushed to a third-alarm residential fire on Bauer Street following a report of an explosion and smoke. 

The first fire department on the scene was the Lisbon Fire Department, arriving to find a severe blaze engulfing the residence, with flames visible through the roof, porch, and a window. The call arrived around 11:07 a.m. 

The incident was raised to a third alarm because more personnel were required. Reports indicated that limited daytime staffing in Lisbon and nearby mutual-aid departments helped cause the extra alarm. Within about an hour, crews managed to get the main part of the fire under control. After the fire spread into attic and floor areas, firefighters stayed at the scene to conduct a thorough overhaul. 

While searching the residence, firefighters saved the family’s cat and parrot. No injuries were reported among occupants or firefighters.
