Crews Responded to Building Collapse on Walnut Hill Road

North Yarmouth, ME — September 19 — North Yarmouth Fire Rescue responded around 12:28 p.m.to a report of a building collapse on Walnut Hill Road. When the firefighters arrived, they found that part of a building that was still under construction had collapsed.

At the time of the collapse, the structure was empty.

All the workers had left the site for lunch when the collapse happened, and there were no injuries reported.

Firefighters from North Yarmouth Fire Rescue, based at 463 Walnut Hill Road, arrived at the scene to check for any dangers related to the damaged building.

They worked to secure the area and make sure there were no workers trapped or injured inside the collapsed section.

The incident was treated as a construction emergency, with the partial collapse creating a risk for anyone who might enter the structure.

Further evaluation of the building and the cause of the structural failure will be handled by the relevant authorities.

North Yarmouth Fire Rescue provides fire and emergency medical services to the community and operates its main station on Walnut Hill Road.

The department has mutual-aid agreements with several neighboring fire agencies, including Cumberland, Durham, Falmouth, Freeport, Gray, New Gloucester, Pownal, Topsham, and Yarmouth.
