Mutual Aid Crews Assisted at Woodland Structure Fire

Woodland, ME — September 9 — Caribou Fire & Ambulance Department personnel responded to a reported structure fire around 12:20 a.m. On Wednesday at 276 Margison Road in Woodland. The first 911 call suggested that people may still be inside the house.

When firefighters arrived, they saw heavy flames coming from the back of the building and spreading into the roof.

All the people inside were accounted for when the crew arrived. Firefighters began an interior attack and successfully put out the main part of the fire.

Firefighters stayed at the scene for about six and a half hours to check the roof and attic areas and to eliminate any remaining hot spots.

Engine 1 used approximately 31,000 gallons of water during the operation.

The fire is believed to have started from improperly disposed smoking materials found outside the home.

The house was determined to be completely destroyed. No injuries were reported, and the American Red Cross offered support to the homeowner.

Support was provided by the Presque Isle Fire Department, North Lakes Fire & Rescue, Fort Fairfield Fire Rescue, and Limestone Volunteer Fire Department.
