FRENCHTOWN, Mont. (Sept. 17, 2025) — Firefighters in the Frenchtown Rural Fire District recently practiced extrication skills using a vehicle that had rolled onto its side.
Crews began by stabilizing the car with struts designed for rapid setup and heavy loads, officials said. Firefighters then used hydraulic rescue tools — commonly known as the jaws of life — to cut, spread, lift and move the damaged vehicle.
The department noted its tools are now battery powered, which reduces noise, improves access and minimizes trip hazards during rescues.
