— September 9, 2026 — Firefighters rushed to a third-alarm residential fire on Bauer Street in Lisbon following a reported explosion that quickly escalated into a rapidly spreading blaze.

The first agency to arrive at the scene was the Lisbon Fire Department. The fire was reported around 11:07 a.m. with a caller indicating smoke in the area. Firefighters discovered a house deeply engulfed in flames, with fire spreading through the roof, porch, and a window.

The incident was escalated to a third alarm due to reduced daytime staffing in Lisbon and nearby mutual-aid departments. Durham Fire and Rescue arrived to support the Lisbon firefighters at the scene. The extra resources enabled crews to deploy more personnel and equipment to the operation.
