Engine 54 and Car 5 were dispatched to 1840 Franklin Boulevard for an activated residential fire alarm on Wedenesday afternoon.

Upon arrival, Car 5 and Engine 54, staffed with two on-duty firefighters, observed smoke coming from a two-story wood-frame structure.

Firefighters located the fire at the rear of the home near an outdoor kitchen and patio area. A working fire was declared, and additional resources were requested, including an engine from District 6 (Northfield) and District 4 (Somers Point). The fire, which had begun spreading rapidly into the residence, was quickly brought under control.
