Firefighters spent several hours working to extinguish a fire in a 50-foot trailer loaded with construction debris on Interstate 395 in Brewer.
The incident was reported at approximately 4:28 p.m. on September 8, 2026, in Brewer, Maine. Brewer firefighters and off-duty personnel responded to the reported vehicle fire, where arriving crews encountered heavy smoke coming from a live-floor trailer filled with densely packed construction debris.
Ladder 305 was initially placed into operation, but crews found the fire was burning deep within the trailer's contents. With access limited, firefighters worked to remove debris and expose the burning material.
Heavy equipment was brought in to assist with removing the load while crews extinguished the remaining fire and hot spots. Firefighters remained on scene until approximately 9 p.m., more than four hours after the initial dispatch.
