Quick Knockdown on Philo Road West: Firefighters Contain Vehicle Blaze with No Injuries

Elmira Heights, NY - Firefighters quickly suppressed a vehicle fire late Friday night, containing the flames without incident or injury along Philo Road West.

On September 4, the Elmira Heights Fire Department was dispatched on mutual aid to assist the Horseheads Fire Department with a reported vehicle fire within the Village of Horseheads in Chemung County.

Arriving emergency crews deployed handlines and made short work of the fire, fully extinguishing the vehicle before the blaze could extend to surrounding hazards. No civilian or first responder injuries were reported during the operation.

Following complete suppression and overhaul of the vehicle, the origin and cause of the fire were turned over to the Horseheads Fire Department, where the incident remains under active investigation.
