Troy, N.Y. — October 9 — Troy firefighters were called to a Signal 30 fire at a building structure located at 3229 Seventh Avenue, following reports of a fire on the third floor and in the cockloft. Upon arrival, the fire crews started efforts to control the fire and check for any spread into the concealed space above the top-floor ceiling and beneath the roof.
The firefighters managed to put the fire out and then moved on to overhaul operations. During this stage, they examined the affected areas for any remaining hot spots or hidden fire that could lead to rekindling.
Truck 1 was not on duty during the incident. The response was handled by Troy Fire Department personnel following the department's standard command structure.
Cockloft fires can be particularly challenging for firefighters because flames can move through hidden spaces above the ceiling and spread beyond the initial area of the fire.
Checking these areas during overhaul is essential to confirm that the fire has been completely extinguished.
According to the city's official information, the Troy Fire Department had five engine companies, two truck companies, one rescue engine, and three ambulances involved in the response.
The Troy Uniformed Firefighters Association, NYSPFFA, and the International Association of Fire Fighters were also featured in the department's post.
