Mutual Aid Crews Battle Large Mulch Fire in South Brunswick

Following a fire at Reliable Wood Products, 234 Broadway Road, on August 31, firefighters from all over Central New Jersey stayed in South Brunswick as part of a massive mutual-aid effort. Around nine in the morning, the fire was initially reported. According to South Brunswick police, efforts continued on Sunday, August 30, and into Monday.

The first fire department to arrive to the scene was the Monmouth Junction Volunteer Fire Department. After discovering a sizable mulch and raw-material fire, crews started fighting the fire while requesting more personnel and water supplies from other agencies.

Engine 903 from the Brookview Volunteer Fire Company was also operating in South Brunswick as part of the Middlesex County Tanker Force. The 2023 Pierce Enforcer pumper carries a 750-gallon tank and is equipped with a 2,000-gpm pump, making it well suited for water-supply operations. Firehouse and Fire & Safety Services records confirm those apparatus specifications.
